Hogle Zoo

 Last Sunday we went to UT to see friends, play around and for some appointments. We decided it would be fun to take Gav to the Zoo. I had never been to the SLC zoo and the last time Sean went he was very young. Gavin LOVES animals and we were excited to take him. When we were telling him where we were going, he got this huge smile on his face and said "animals?! go to zoo to see animals?" He then preceded to name every animal that he could. When we got there half of the zoo was under construction, but there was still a ton to see. We saw monkeys, giraffes, tigers, snakes, birds, rhinos (there is nothing quite like a 2 yr old trying to say rhinoceros), elephants and so much more. Gavin and Daddy went on the carousel, and the look on his face was priceless. At the end of the trip Daddy took all 3 of us on a train ride around the zoo. This may have been the highlight of the trip for Gavin. He adores trains and was so excited. He stared at all the animals and listened to every word the conductor said. We stopped by the gift shop on the way out and

bought Gav an animal puzzle. (He still plays with it for hours at a time!) 

It was so much fun and I cannot wait to take him back.

He was slightly scared of the gorilla, and refused to get out of the stroller.

 

 

 After the zoo, we met up with Lyndsey and Emery  for lunch at one of our favorite places ever, Cafe Rio. The lunch was delicious as always and the company was even better. I had so much fun catching up with Lyndsey and I was thankful she could find a minute in her crazy schedule with school and baby to come see us! Plus this lunch went way better than the one we tried to have in GA.

The Duckies

 One of our favorite things to do in our small town of Spring Creek is go to the Spring Creek Marina and feed the ducks. Gavin is obsessed with ducks and even knows the way to the marina. He will always ask, "go feed ducks bread?" When we do get to the marina and before I can even get out of the car, due to my growing belly, he is halfway down the dock asking if I am coming. There is a playground on the other side of the parking lot with a huge field next to it. After we have fed all the ducks, we run over to the playground and play there for a while. Gavin loves the swings, slides, giant tires, and even just running around as fast as he can saying " I am speed. Lightning Mcqueen. rrrrrrrrrrrllllllll. super fast!" He is such a card, and everything is fast like Lightning Mcqueen. He has his funny little vroom sound that he makes, it reminds me of rolling the"R" in foreign languages, but somehow he does it down his throat. Needless to say, it is very cute and still makes me smile.

Big Boy Room

A few weeks ago Gavin decided that he did not like his crib anymore, he started to crawl out of it every night and every afternoon during nap time. I could not keep him in his bed any longer. So we switched his crib into a toddler bed one Sunday after church. We let him help us "fix" his bed and talked it up a ton. When we laid him down he was fine for 2 seconds and then went ballistic. He screamed and pounded on his door for 10 minutes. The hardest 10 minutes of mommy's life. When he finally calmed down, he climbed back into bed and we have never looked back since. However, anyone that says 2 1/2 yr olds do not know what is up, is crazy I have decided. There happens to be a full size bed in Gavin's room as well as his "new" toddler bed. After a few nights of sleeping in his toddler bed or so I thought, I noticed the sheets and blankets to the big bed were all messed up. The lil stink was getting out of his bed and sneaking into the big bed in the middle of the night. He is a major squigglier and I am sure the full allowed more room for his rambunctious nights. When I realized this we just started putting him to sleep in his"new big boy bed," and he absolutely loves it. The toddler bed became more of a play thing, so yesterday I packed it up and put it away (for 2 months that is, until lil sis arrives). We talked about how he is growing and becoming and big boy and that the crib was for babies, not Gavin. I reorganized his room, he vacuumed it (the kid LOVES vacuuming), and we waited for daddy to come home from work. He was so excited to show daddy his "big boy room," let us only hope he stays this excited when baby sis comes home!

Chancing keeping the toys in there, we will see how long this lasts :)

Jesus is Our Friend

I want to do better at keeping track of the cute little things that Gavin says that knock your socks off. He has so much personality and always keeps Sean and I on our toes. Just the other night we were having a tickling match. I would attack him, and he would say "Help me Daddy!" So Sean would save him and start tickling him, then it was mommy's turn to save him and tickle him. Finally, I had his arms up and tickling him was daddy. Out of no where he yells "Help me Jesus!" It took Sean and I a second to process this, we both just looked at each other, and then busted up laughing. He said it whole heartily and so sweetly, but it truly came out of left field. He calls Christ his Jesus Friend, and I think it is so sweet. I am glad to know that he does listen to his mommy and he knows that Jesus is his friend and will always be there. It just is amazing how much they listen to you, and you do not even realize it.

CARS

When I said that Gavin was obsessed with CARS and CARS 2, I really meant it. Haha. I woke up yesterday morning and heard Gavin talking in his bed saying " I am speed. I am speed," over and over again. He literally wakes up asking for his "Lightning Queen," and goes to bed with his cars lined up on the big bed so he can see them while in his crib. Right after we got home from GA we took him to see CARS 2 and it was a HUGE success.

Gavin never ever sits still and for an hour and a half he sat there and watched Mater, Lightning Mcqueen and the new friend Francesco. We now have cars plates, toy cars (all differing sizes of Mcqueen), a coloring/sticker book, books, a book bag, lunch box, the movie and 2 sets of pjs. It is so cute to hear him playing with his cars and this is the first time he has ever stuck with something for so long. Two months long and going strong that Lightning Mcqueen and Mater are the best ever!
